My favorite Fantasy BookTubers.

Just in case you are reading this blog about my Favorite Fantasy BookTubers, and you are asking what the hell is a BookTuber, let me explain the definition. Wikipedia describes a BookTube channel as a book-specific subset of the YouTube community. Basically, it’s a Youtuber who recommends books and talks about books.

I am not a BookTuber.

On the record, I love BookTubers but I am not one because it takes so much time to read and review books and edit videos. Writing Science-Fiction and Fantasy books is my main mission but I do review books and movies in that genre on my website for fun because I am a fan. But it takes a lot of time and I find writing takes away a lot of my reading time. While I make time to read, it’s a Catch 22 because it’s time that I am not spending writing.

An example of this compromise is one of my favorite BookTubers, Daniel Greene. He is an aspiring writer, but he has been honest about the time he spends on the channel versus the time he spends writing. He reportedly spends one day weekly writing.

Typically I spend five days a week writing fiction and only one day a week blogging and reviewing books. BookTubers spend every day talking about books and I just cannot invest that much time into it.

What makes a great BookTuber?

My favorite Fantasy BookTubers are insightful and keep me updated on the current Fantasy books and movies and even video games coming out. When I think Fantasy I am also including Sci-Fi; I think they are two sides of the same coin. Personally, my favorite Booktubers are funny.

Funny, I laughed so hard watching some of the short videos of the channel “Man Carrying Things.”

And in Merphy Napier’s case, she is informative and insightful and cute. She reminds me of every girl I fell in love with in high school. The librarian types are my weakness. Does that make me sexist if I find Merphy Napier attractive but not Daniel Greene? In my defense, I think that makes me human.

Merphy Napier.

Would I enjoy her BookTube as much if she was ugly-looking? Deep thoughts? Yes, I would, but she would have to be funnier. Still, she has insightful book recommendations. Murphy has 572 videos on YouTube at least and probably more as this blog gets dated.

Not single, guys–Murphy is Mrs Napier and is married to some lucky guy and has one child, a son. Reportedly, the couple is looking into adopting a second child. So you can see her heart. She appears to be a very kind, caring person and that is part of her likeability on YouTube.

She has been uploading videos on YouTube since 2016. She dislikes the misuse of the word: undulate. Murphy Napier is a super smart, cute BookTuber. I feel like she is the sexy librarian-type. Maybe that is TMI… Sorry, I need therapy.

Napier is an audiobook narrator. She has had to overcome dyslexia. She is friends with and has collaborated with one of my favorite BookTubers, Daniel Greene.

Daniel Green.

Disheveled Goblin Host, and one of My Favorite Fantasy BookTubers.

Disheveled goblin host of “The Fantasy News”! Daniel is funny and relevant. Greene always has new content on the latest Fantasy books, movies and TV series as well as video games and author interviews with writers such as Brandon Sanderson.

The Fantasy News!

That is a bold claim to make, “The Fantasy News,” but in my opinion, he has earned that show title. Back to why BookTubers are a great resource, as a reader, we sometimes get stagnated and stuck reading the same authors, not knowing what new writer to try out. BookTubers like Daniel provide a great service to us as readers exposing us to The Good The Bad and The Ugly of Fantasy books.

Daniels is also just really funny, his unboxing videos are particularly funny. I believe he is a college graduate with a marketing degree. A self-proclaimed nihilist and a socialist;  he actively tweets his political opinion on Twitter.

Man Carrying Thing.

Failed Booktuber turned reluctant Minecraft Twitch Streamer…

What is this jerk’s name? I looked online and I couldn’t figure it out. But he’s my favorite BookTuber, his channel is called: “Man Carrying Thing.” His channel technically is called a BookTube, but his reviews and recommendations come with a lot of nonsense.

LOL is a text message abbreviation people use all the time for laughing out loud, but we know they are not really laughing out loud. These text liars are so common that we don’t think about what they are doing to society, but I found myself actually LOL after watching some of his videos.

Occasionally, I find his book reviews insightful and different from time to time, but his 30-second comedy sketches are hilarious. Sadly, he quit BookTubing to start a Minecraft YouTube channel, which I think is a sad use of his talents, but the kids love it.

How he manages to do interviews with Brandon Sanderson and Stephen King at the same time is amazing. But the interview revealed some hostility between the two huge mega-selling authors.

In Conclusion.

Those three BookTubers are my favorite Fantasy BookTubers. You have the Cute one, the Informative-Funny one, and the Nonsensical-Funny Booktuber.  Who are your favorite BookTubers and why?

Are you afraid you might accidentally watch the worst movie of 2021 and 2022?

Do not fear I have reviewed the worst movie of 2021 and wrote a review of here on my blog.
